The purpose of Elements of Art is to introduce the students to the names of the art concepts that are used to understand visual art.  We will be exploring the seven elements and seven principles of art that are the building blocks for any visual work.  The elements are line, shape, color, value, space, form, and texture.  The principles are rhythm, balance, proportion, emphasis, variety, harmony, unity.  The students will also be learning about various well-known artists and their style of art.


This course focuses on using the computer to effectively communicate ideas in the school environment.  Students will create projects using Microsoft Office 2007 software (Word, Publisher and PowerPoint) as well as the graphics editor program, Paint.NET. The course will review basic skills then introduce advanced topics. Students will learn techniques for creating and using tables, multilayer pictures, document headers and footers, presentation animation and reports in MLA format. Some Internet research will be required. Development of keyboarding skill is also a goal for students who will use KeyTest, a keyboarding practice/test program developed by the instructor, Mr.Sandy. By the end of the year students will demonstrate a mastery of 73 keys and have a typing speed of 35 words per minute using a QWERTY keyboard.


This course introduces basic culinary skills and tasks, kitchen procedures and recipes that are used in preparing foods, cooking and meal planning. Learning these skills will empower the student to prepare and serve healthy meals.  One of the course goals is to teach students to cook with confidence. The students will learn by doing.  Therefore, not having to rely on packaged and/or processed foods for meals, but instead choosing a healthier way of eating. After all, we are what we eat!!  God made our bodies to eat healthy, natural foods that He created, like fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, grains and so much more! 

California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF)

CJSF is a prestigious organization for 7th and 8th grade students who meet certain academic and citizenship requirements for membership.  Membership may be attained during the 7th and 8th grade years.  Students must apply during the announced enrollment period each semester.  Eligibility is based on grades earned the previous semester.

“Honor Membership” status is awarded to students who have achieved membership their first 3 semesters. Students who do will receive honor award recognition of their accomplishments during the 8th grade promotion ceremony.


Digi Photo/Memory Book

Students will become familiar with features unique to a digital camera as well as the tools used to create a quality photograph. Once students have practiced using the camera, students participate in gathering photographs for the school memory book. The course provides a collaborative environment and teaches time management and commitment while using creativity.


Students will develop a better understanding of common stage vocabulary and etiquette while gaining self-confidence, and an ability to encourage others. They will understand how to work with different types of drama and portray a character comfortably on stage. Students will learn how to perform or work backstage in a drama production.


The Middle School Leadership serve as organizational, service, and support groups to the middle students. The class strives to be a Christ-like example while serving the school in a leadership capacity that honors God through actions while encouraging others to do the same. The primary goals are to create a memorable experience for all students on campus, to promote Eagle unity and spirit, and to grow student leaders. Students will be involved in the weekly Broadcast.

Life Skills

In this course we will be exploring several different topics that will increase our awareness of how our attitudes and behaviors can positively affect our lives.  In the first semester we will cover the following topics: organization, hygiene, nutrition, fitness and finances.  In the second semester we will shift our focus to interpersonal skills which include communication, attitude, teamwork, networking, problem solving and critical thinking, professionalism and social networking.  

Spanish A

This course is an introduction to the Spanish language through exploration of Spanish speaking countries. Students will study vocabulary and basic phrases needed to communicate.


Study Skills - 6th Grade Only

This course will focus on developing the students’ skills in various areas from organizing their time, papers, and space to reading textbooks and taking notes.
