About Jana Austinson
Jana has, for over 20 years, shared her love of music and theater with the children of the Camarillo community. As a performer, she pursued studies in those areas at Los Angeles Valley College, USC and the Lee Strasberg Studio in Hollywood. A current member of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), she appeared in numerous feature films, commercials, and TV series and movies. Her musical adventures have found her in venues ranging from a church of twelve people to the stage at Carnegie Hall.
Locally, Jana has taught classroom music and band for the Pleasant Valley School District and a number of private schools in Camarillo. She is the founder of the Ventura County Combined Private Schools Band, which now provides an instrumental music experience to over a dozen private schools in the county, including the one closest to her heart, Cornerstone.
She truly loves sharing music with the students and the amazing variety of interests and opinions that brings out. She feels that the very best thing about being the Music Teacher is helping them to understand music as Worship to their Savior. She also greatly enjoys working with the classes on their annual musicals and especially treasures the opportunity to help bring out the hidden talents in so many of our wonderful students.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
