Our History
Cornerstone Christian School is an independent 501 (c)(3) private school system providing high quality education to families in Western Ventura County. The school was founded in 1981 by the visionary leadership of Camarillo Christian Church to provide families with the option of a Christian education. In June 2004, the school became separately incorporated, becoming “Cornerstone Schools of Ventura County dba Cornerstone Christian Schools”. The school continues to operate on the church campus as tenants. Current facilities are located on 8 acres.
Cornerstone Christian offers Preschool through 12th grade, the K-12 school has been fully accredited since 1987 by both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). In 1995, the preschool became accredited by ACSI’s new accreditation program for preschools.
Camarillo, California is located 45 miles northwest of Los Angeles in western Ventura County. Camarillo has a population of 65,453 with a citywide area of 19.86 square miles. It is a rural suburban community with a small town feel. Camarillo combines a rich agricultural heritage with industrial technology. Camarillo is statistically an upper-middle class and well-educated community that is very “family oriented”.
Cornerstone Christian School’s purpose is to provide a quality education that promotes spiritual, academic, emotional, physical and social growth. As a Christian school we want the students who attend to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and be able to apply the teachings of the Bible to their daily lives. We want to prepare our students to do well in this life and to be ready for the life to come.
